A bright glassy quartz with both smokey and amethystine phantoms. What is a bit unusual, is that there are myriad small unidentified crystals embedded in two sides. Even more unusual, is that the crystal has a hollow center to about 1.5cm. Authentic Brandberg quartz specimens are, to me, the best of the species.

An outstanding example of Brandberg amethyst on well crystalized orthoclase. A very balanced specimen with the only issue being a contact area on the smallest lower left amethyst which was likely from removal. The amethyst has inclusions of tiny hematite crystals, adding sparkle, as well as hairlike inclusions of an unknown mineral. Price reduxced from $875.

A GORGEOUS cluster of complete, terminated aquamarines with fantastic color and water clear gem areas near the terminations. The black schorl enhances the dimensional effect of this specimen. It sits perfectly and is very high on the aesthetics scale. One area of contact from the attachment point only shows at one side and this piece displays well from all sides and angles. I was standing in the booth when a fellow approached me with this crystal, saying he has had it for 20 some years and if I was interested in buying it. Uh, YEAH! A simply perfect crystal. These came out about 22 years ago and none comparable since. I saw another at the show, smaller, maybe a tad sharper, with an asking of $2,500.Some contact along the spine running about 2cm, otherwise impeccable. I scored it cheaply enough to keep it under a grand, and this is one superb value. More pictures available upon request.

From the find in 2004, these became instant classics. Bright glassy faces, a grey/blue color, and forming in book-like aggregates. A bit of matrix makes a natural stand. One crystal is broken at a termination and a second has a bit of chipping. Very attractive. The color is best indicated by the bluest of the photos.

These scepter-like rocket ship shaped crystals came out about 7 years ago. A shaft of aragonite with partial calcite coating ends at a doubly terminated (multiple terminations at the base) gem crystal. The very termination has an area that clearly was a contact against another crystal, not damage.

A large twinned scalenohedron from the famous tri-state mining district. Both terminations are gemmy. The twin plane re-entrance notch is quite distinct. The underside of the crystal is not complete, as a portion was cleaved off at removal. I was attracted to this piece due to its size, clarity and the lovely growth patterns on the surface. Besides, I'm a sucker for a good twin.

The Elmwwod mine closed and flooded several years ago. The material continues to escalate in price. These multi-terminated stacked calcites are readily identifiable as classic Elmwood. A sculptural aggregate of scalenohedral crystals. It is quite different from many Pugh specimens I have seen, in the intracy of the interpenetrations. A very fine and unusual specimen. I have only seen one other calcite of this form (rotational twinned scalenohedron) and color (similar to the ice cream pocket pieces), and it is in my collection or I would keep this one. The calcite is 4cm long and 3cm thick. It is broken at the back from removal. You will note a band of malachite around the back matrix, which may have contributed the turquiose color to the calcite. Sits perfectly on its own. Very attractive and rare.
