Barite

Barite ores were first mined in the Cartersville mining district in the late 1800s. The Paga Mine was one of the most prolific producers. This cluster of elongated sub-parallel chisel tipped crystals are a full centimeter thick. They display several areas of subtle zoning. One crystal, from the back, is missing, but otherwise this piece is pristine. The color is not as intense as the photos, but is a pleasant soft blue. Likely found in the 2016-2018 time period. Ex David Smith collection.
