The Laxey Mine was known for producing ilvaite crystals that were once considered among the best in the world. These specimens are notable for their chisel-shaped, sharp, and lustrous crystals, often associated with hedenbergite and quartz. The mine worked a base and precious metal deposit that was known as early as the 1870s.
