Aragonite

Newer material from Afghanistan is represented by both green and blue, massive or crystalline, solid or banded aragonites and hemimorphites. This specimen is a robins egg blue in varying levels of color intensity and comprised of very fine columnar hexagonal prisms amassed on matrix. What may appear as a big rub is actually an area with milky colored crystals, which may be calcite. Very pretty piece.
