The North Vernon calcites have become a must have in any calcite, USA, carbonate, or mid-west collection. They are known to have vitreous luster and a particular “rounding” appearance with many variations of form and color. This example has twinned interpenetrant crystals, each measuring about 4cm. They are filled with tiny chalcopyrites and have distinctive faces one side to the other from the standpoint of luster. It was originally sold by M Phantom Minerals (label included). A real prize for the new owner! Ex Kenny Gay collection.
