Mottramite, Vanadinite and Pyromorphite

Mike bought this piece from me a few years ago when I acquired the George Loud reference collection of Virginia minerals. Georges label mentions the specimen was found by Michael Dunn in 2007.  The Allah Cooper was exploited in the early 20th century and closed in 1918. In 2002 a housing development began preparing the site and granted Michael Dunn access to collect. This specimen is rich with chains of army green Pyromorphites, which appear to be intermingled with more tan Vanadinites, all set on a dark Mottramite layer. Ex Mike Wortham and George Loud

Composition: lead chlorophosphate, lead chlorovanadate, and lead copper vanadate hydroxide
