Pyrite on Dolomite with Fluorite and Quartz
I saw this old Shangbao piece at a reasonable price and had to have it. A large 5.2cm porcelaneous dolomite crystal with a couple interpenetrant sister crystals host vertically aligned mounds of pyrite with water clear quartz crystals. On the back of the right hand mound are a couple of small pale lavender fluorites. A bit unusual for the composition and architecture.
Locality: Shangbao Mine, Hunan Province China
Composition: Calcium magnesium carbonate
