Iron mining in French Creek began as early as 1717, producing over a million tons of ore in its production history. Its primary ore was Magnetite. It has been closed for more than 60 years and is no longer accessible. This specimen is massive Magnetite with surface areas revealing crude metallic crystals. Some vuggy areas reveal octahedral crystals. Minor Byssolite on the back. Collected by George Loud in 1993.
