Quartz var Ametrine

Availability: 1 in stock

The Anahi Mine is the worlds primary source of fine natural Ametrine. The mine exploits quartz veins located in dolomitic limestone. The color is natural, created by differing oxidation states of iron within the crystal, caused by temperature gradients during formation.

For this “nuclear” pinwheel pattern to be visible in a slice cut perpendicular to the crystal’s c-axis, the ametrine must be a Brazil law twin—a specific type of crystal twinning where left- and right-handed quartz structures alternate.

The commercial name of Bolivianite has been used for these specimens.
