Emma was the largest manganese mine in Butte, and the most significant producer of rhodochrosite in the state. The mine has since been completely reclaimed and is now a small grassy area. Manganese was extracted from 1934-1957. This spectacular plate featured pink distorted rhombohedra to 1.5cm and is capped by a quartz overgrowth. Some additional deposition of rhodochrosite formed on the complete faces of the quartz. Ex Jim and Paula Wilson.
