Copper with Quartz and Chalcopyrite

A matrix of Quartz and Chalcopyrite hosts hackly copper along with some crude copper crystals and brassy Chalcopyrites nestled amongst small divergent opaque Quartz crystals. Spaniards began mining in the area in the 1750s, and the Ajo Copper Company was incorporated in 1854, making it the first mining company in the Arizona Territory. The mine closed in 1985.
