Calcite on Quartz with Manganocalcite

A few months ago I met a fellow looking to move product from the Trepca Stari Trg Mine. I inquired if there was anything “special” and he sent photos of these wonderful spherical aggregates of  calcite, ranging from pure white to salmon/pink. Additionally, there were lenticulated rhombohedral mangano calcites on the outer reaches of many quartz crystals. According to Petrit (head hoistman) these were unique. We bought all he had (30+ pieces).   This one is the most balanced in terms of size, architecture and saturation of  mangano calcites.

With great sadness Petrit Januzzi passed away last week. He had just had a baby (Musa). Our prayers are with his family.
